Geocache Link

My first Geocache! Woohoo!

I just discovered the sport last week although I've had a GPS for years - just what I need, another obsession!

I knew of this park but have never visited - see, this is getting me out more. It was about a .4 mile walk from where I parked. It was a beautiful day and the weather was in the mid-20's. Passing a frozen pond I saw that someone had written their name in the snow on the icy surface - a little too early in the season for me to try my walking on water routine.

I've used my GPS all over the country and Europe and have been continually amazed at how accurate it could be - so I was interested in seeing how well it would work. As I walked along it got down to 50' and then started going up again. I slowly turned around and carefully walked back down the trail. Realizing it must be off the trail I started looking for footprints in the snow - but I didn't find any leading off the trail. I found a promising lead and my GPS crept down to 1 Foot. I must be standing on top of the Cache! It took me a minute or two of looking before finding it carefully hidden.

Even in the winter the thorns were brutal. I can imagine that this cache would be more difficult during the summer months.

I intend on taking my nephew this weekend and see if he can find this cache.
